Template: home improvement contract with every B&P 7159 notice verbatim
In one paragraph
A print-ready home improvement contract that carries every heading, statement and notice B&P 7159 requires, in the statute's own words and type sizes, with blanks for the job and a filled-in worked example for a 200-amp panel change. Type sizes are marked where the statute prescribes them: body 10-point, headings 10-point bold, the flagged statements 12-point bold. The statutory text is quoted verbatim and must not be edited.
The rule
A home improvement contract over $500 must contain the headings and statements of B&P 7159(d), the notices of 7159(e) and the CSLB notice of 7030(b), in the specified type sizes, with a signed copy given to the buyer before work begins (7159(c)(3)) and the Notice of Cancellation attached in duplicate (7159(e)(6)(C)(vi)). The down payment may not exceed $1,000 or 10% (7159.5(a)(3)).
Why it matters
Every word in the notices below is prescribed. A contract that paraphrases them is non-compliant even if it says the same thing. Use this form as printed, fill only the blanks, and the paper is never the reason a dispute becomes a licensing case.
