What this is
CA Electrical Prep is an independent online prep course for the California CSLB C-10 Electrical Contractor licence exams. One-time payment of $148.75 (list $175) for lifetime access, no subscription. 59 lessons, 1,228 practice questions with the governing code section on every answer, timed mock exams for both required papers, and an eight-phase business track for after you pass. Bilingual, English and Spanish.

How the C-10 actually works
- The C-10 is California’s electrical contractor licence classification, issued by the Contractors State License Board (CSLB).
- Getting licensed requires passing TWO separate exams: the Law & Business exam (about 115 questions) and the C-10 Trade exam (about 100 questions).
- Both exams run about 3.5 hours, are closed-book, and a calculator is provided.
- You must also meet CSLB’s experience requirement — four years of journey-level experience within the last ten — before you may sit them.
- The trade exam is built on the 2025 California Electrical Code, which adopts the 2023 NEC with California amendments.
- The C-10 Trade exam is offered in English only. The Law & Business exam is available in Spanish.
- A contractor bond and a Live Scan background check come after the exams, before the licence number issues.
What this course is not
- This is exam preparation, not a licence. We cannot issue, expedite or guarantee a licence.
- We are not the CSLB and are not affiliated with or endorsed by it. Fees, forms and deadlines come from cslb.ca.gov.
- It does not replace the experience CSLB requires, and it is not a substitute for an apprenticeship.
- It prepares you for California’s C-10 only. It is not for other states or other classifications.
